Prompt ordering is lost when object prompts containing custom groups are used in the page-by of a report in MicroStrategy

SYMPTOM:

In Strategy 9.4.x, users may notice that prompt ordering is lost when object prompts containing custom groups are used in the page-by of a report. The steps to reproduce this issue are outlined below.

  1. In Strategy Developer, create a custom group (CG1) where the custom group elements are attribute element prompts.
  2. Create a search (S1) that contains CG1.
  3. Create an object prompt (OP1) that uses the results of S1.
  4. Create another object prompt (OP2) that prompts on a list of objects and include OP1 in the list.
  5. Create a report (R1) that contains one metric on the report template and OP2 in the page-by section.
  6. Execute the report. Notice that only OP2 appears in the pane on the left by itself in the first prompt resolution page.
  7. Switch to Grid view and change the value in the page-by.
  8. Reprompt the report. The user will notice that OP2 and CG1 appear in the same pane on the left during prompt resolution.

CAUSE:

This is a known issue in Strategy 9.4.x.

ACTION:

The issue has been addressed in Strategy 9.4.1 Hotfix 5. Users can apply this hotfix to take advantage of the fix.
