KB47944: The outline "APPLY WEBPREFERENCES NAME "Show options when exporting" VALUE "1" FOR USER "user_name" TO ALLPROJECTS;" is not applied in MicroStrategy Web 9.x

SYMPTOM:
In Strategy Web 9.x users may not have the privilege "Web export" but the Common privilege to export to Excel. In this scenario, end users are not allowed to change their Web preferences for the export options as explained in TN: 12595 "Export Options window does not appear when exporting reports from MicroStrategy Web 9.x". Once the user enabled the checkbox "Do not prompt me again." in the export options, the user will not get prompted again. Under certain circumstances the user may want to change the default export options.
The administrator may want to use the following outline in Command Manager.
 
 
 

APPLY WEBPREFERENCES NAME "Show options when exporting" VALUE "1" FOR USER "user_name" TO ALLPROJECTS;

 
 
After executing the outline, the user still will not be able to see the export options during export.
 
CAUSE:
This is a known issue in Strategy Command Manager 9.x.
Currently this issue is being reviewed by Strategy for a potential code fix on an upcoming Strategy release.
 
WORKAROUND:
The administrator user can grant the Web export option with user via Command Manager outline:
 

GRANT WEBEXPORT TO USER "user_name";

APPLY WEBPREFERENCES NAME "Show options when exporting" VALUE "0" FOR USER "user_name" TO ALLPROJECTS;

APPLY WEBPREFERENCES NAME "Show options when exporting" VALUE "1" FOR USER "user_name" TO ALLPROJECTS;

REVOKE WEBEXPORT FROM USER "user_name";
