KB47976: Y-axis value is repeated when using Vertical Bar: Stacked or Horizontal Bar: Stacked graphs in MicroStrategy 9.4.x - 10.x

Community Admin

• Strategy

This technical note documents an issue with Y-axis values being repeated when using Vertical Bar.

SYMPTOM:
When using the Vertical Bar: Stacked or Horizontal Bar: Stacked graph types, "Disable fractional grid line" option does not get rid of repeating values on the Y-axis.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:
The following steps are used to reproduce this issue in Strategy Tutorial:

  • Create a metric ‘Max1’ with the definition: Max(1) {~}
  • Create a report with Subcategory attribute in the rows and the ‘Max1’ metric in the columns.
  • Go to View menu > Graph View. In the graph type selection window, select "Vertical Bar: Stacked".
  • Right-click on the graph and go to Graph Options > Axes > Grids and Scale > Y. Enable the checkbox "Disable fractional Grid lines" – Notice the value on the Y-axis is repeating:

CAUSE:
This behavior has been reported in Strategy 9.4.x - 10.x.

ACTION:
Strategy will continue to investigate and post updates as soon as they are available.

WORKAROUND:
Change the graph type to Vertical Bar: Clustered or another type of vertical bar graph. This issue only occurs when using Vertical Bar: Stacked.
