This knowledge base article explains how to answer expression prompts and combine the script with other outlines in MicroStrategy Command Manager 9.4.x-10.x.

Below is the syntax to be used when answering expression prompts while using the PROMPT and ANSWER script in Strategy Command Manager.

NUMERIC:
When the answer is a number such as when trying to qualify on 2011 in the Year attribute in MicrosStrategy Tutorial project, use the following syntax:

PROMPT "Qualification on Year" ANSWER Year@ID = 2011;

TEXT:
When the answer is text such as when trying to qualify on the Atlanta call center in the Call Center attribute in Strategy Tutorial, use the following syntax:

PROMPT "Qualification on Call Center" ANSWER "@DESC = ^"Atlanta^"";

Note: when using an attribute with space(s) in the name such as "Call Center", a square bracket must be placed around the attribute name. When the answer is a text such as "Atlanta", ^" must be placed around the answer because Command Manager requires an escape character for the quotes.

EXPRESSION IN SUBSCRIPTION:
An example of how to pass in expression prompt answer in a CREATE EMAILSUBSCRIPTION command using Strategy Tutorial project:

CREATE EMAILSUBSCRIPTION "test" FOR OWNER "Administrator" SCHEDULE "First of Month"  ADDRESS test@Strategy.com  CONTACT "Administrator" CONTENT "Expression prompt test" IN FOLDER "\Public Objects\REPORTS\Test - EXPRESSION PROMPT"  IN PROJECT "Strategy Tutorial"  DELIVERYFORMAT EXCEL  FILENAME "test EXCEL"  SUBJECT "test"  MESSAGE "This is a test."  PROMPT "Qualification on Call Center" ANSWER "@DESC = ^"Atlanta^"";
