When attempting a Web Data Import in MicroStrategy Web 9.4.1 against an Aster 6 database the user will receive a "Timeout expired" error.

SYMPTOM
When attempting a Web Data Import in Strategy Web 9.4.1 against an Aster 6 database the user will receive a "Timeout expired" error and the following message in the DSSErrors.log:

Fetch failed. Error type: Odbc error. Odbc operation attempted: SQLFetch. (31) Unsupported data type: 1015.

CAUSE
This is a known issue with Aster Database 6. A catalog table "nc_users" which contains a hidden column with the datatype 1015 which does not get returned with standard ODBC commands is picked up and brought into Strategy. In Aster 5 database, the column was not returned by ODBC calls and is inteded to be hidden.

ACTION
An issue as been logged with Teradata Aster to address this issue.
