MicroStrategy Web 9.4.1 HF5 users on Internet Explorer will notice the following error when clicking Save in the Dynamic address lists page in the User Web

SYMPTOM:

HTTP Status 404 - XXXXXX
description: The requested resource is not available

This issue only occurs in JSP versions of Strategy and only when using Internet Explorer 8,9 and 10.

STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

  • From Internet Explorer 9 access Strategy Web 9.4.1 HF5 on a JSP environment.
  • Login and Navigate to the Web Preferences Menu.
  • Select User Preferences and Dynamic address lists as shown below:

  • Click the Saveicon in the toolbar as shown below:

  • Note that the error in the symptom will show in the browser.

Important Note: In ASP environments the user will be taken to the Strategy Project page instead of the HTTP 404 error.

CAUSE:
This is a known issue with the Save button in the Dynamic address lists page in the Web User Preferences. Dynamic Address Lists are saved when clicking Save while modifying them:

the Save button in the preferences page should not be displayed since all address lists are already saved.

ACTION:
This issue has been addressed in Strategy version 10x.
WORKAROUND:
Do not use the Save button in the Dynamic Address Lists page of the Web User Preferences. All the dynamic lists are already saved, thus clicking on the Save button is not necessary.
