KB48041: No data is displayed in Visual Insight until an attribute element value in the Page-by section is manually selected in MicroStrategy Web 9.4.1

SYMPTOM:
In Strategy Web 9.4.1, if a report with an attribute element filter is used in a Visual Insight Dashboard and the attribute with the filter is also used in the Page-by section, the Dashboard shows correct data.
However, if the report attribute element filter is changed inside the report definition and then the Dashboard is re-executed, no data will be displayed until an attribute element value in the Page-by section is manually selected.
 
STEPS TO REPRODUCE:

1. In the Strategy 9.4.1 Tutorial Project, create a report with the following objects:
   Attributes: Day, Category, Subcategory; Metrics: Profit.
2. Create a Visual Insight Dashboard with the dataset from Step 1 and add the Category, Subcategory and Profit objects to a grid visualization.
3. Add the Day attribute to the Page-by section.
4. Change the Page-by section to a Drop-down format.
5. Select an element in the Page-by section, for example 1/1/2010, and save the dashboard.
6. Edit the report of step 1 and filter the report selecting a different element than the element selected in Step 5, for example 1/2/2010. Save the report without executing it.
7. Run the Visual Insight Dashboard again. Notice that there are no data in the dashboard (like shown below) until you manually select the 1/2/2010 element from the Page by section. 

 
 
 
CAUSE:
This is a known issue in Strategy Web 9.4.1.
ACTION:
Strategy will continue to investigate and post updates as soon as they are available.
