KB482881: The Warehouse Catalog for Platform Analytics Project Errors "No available tables were found in the warehouse catalog..."

Jing (Sally) Cheng

Senior Principal Consultant • MicroStrategy

Description

After opening the Warehouse Catalog from Developer, the user is unable to update tables or columns from the database.

Why is this happening?

This is the expected behavior. The default schema name must be updated with the name of the Platform Analytics Repository. The steps below provide the solution to update the Warehouse Catalog SQL statement syntax that queries directly against the database catalog tables.

Solution

  • From Developer, login to the Project Source for the Platform Analytics project
  • Navigate to Schema > Warehouse Catalog
  • After launching the Warehouse Catalog, notice that the "Tables available in the database instance" list is empty
  • Click the lightning Icon and the user will get an error message:
    • "No available tables were found in the warehouse catalog..."
  • Click "Yes"
  • The Warehouse Catalog Options editor will open.
  • Click "Read Settings" and "Settings..."
  • The Warehouse Catalog Options editor will open. Notice that the SQL statement is using the #Schema_Name# placeholder syntax.
  • Update the SQL statement with:
    •
      SELECT DISTINCT TABLE_SCHEMA NAME_SPACE, TABLE_NAME TAB_NAME FROM INFORMATION_SCHEMA.TABLES WHERE TABLE_SCHEMA = 'platform_analytics_wh'

  • Click Ok
  • Click the lightning Icon. Notice that the tables from the database are now returned in the Warehouse Catalog editor
