After upgrading Microsoft Office 2010 (32-bit) to Microsoft Office 2016 (64-bit), Strategy Developer no longer starts.
The following message appears, "Failed to load control 'msiObjectExplorer' from M3OBJEXP.OCX. Your version of M3OBJEXP.OCX may be outdated. Make sure you are using the version of the control that was provided with your application."
Uninstalling and reinstalling Strategy Developer does not resolve the issue. This issue does not occur if Microsoft Office 2016 (64-bit) is installed prior to installing Strategy Developer.
The MSCOMCTL.OCX file located in C:\Windows\SysWOW64 was removed by the Microsoft Office installer during the upgrade process. This file is necessary to launch Strategy Developer.
To confirm the issue, check the path mentioned above for the file.
regsvr32 "C:\Windows\SysWOW64\MSCOMCTL.OCX"
