KB485921: How to resolve the "JdbcResultWrapper::SetAutoCommit failed...Driver does not support this optional feature" Databricks and Spark JDBC Error When Running Multi-source Reports

Yufei Chen

Software Engineer, Principal • MicroStrategy

When you execute a multi-source report with Spark or Databricks with JDBC connections, you will receive the following error:

Error: QueryEngine encountered error: JdbcResultWrapper::SetAutoCommit failed. Error type: Jdbc error. Jdbc operation attempted: MIX_JdbcConnection_setAutoCommit. [HYC00:10220: on SQLHANDLE] [Strategy][JDNC](10220) Driver does not support this optional feature.. Error in Process method of Component: QueryEngineServer

Note: For more information on multi-source reporting, see Multi-Source
To resolve the error:

  1. Add the following parameter to the JDBC connection string: IgnoreTransactions=1
    • The JDBC URL should be the following:
      jdbc:spark://hostname:port/database;IgnoreTransactions=1;
    • The JDBC Connection String should be the following:
      JDBC;DRIVER=[com.Strategy.spark.jdbc.Driver];URL=[jdbc:spark://hostname:port/database;IgnoreTransactions=1;<Additional Parameters>];

  2. Restart the Intelligence Server and execute the multi-source report

Note: Transaction statements are not currently supported for Databricks and Spark JDBC. Strategy is working with our driver vendor to enhance this behavior.
Only insert statements are supported for Databricks and Spark with the IgnoreTransactions=1 property.
