KB486317 - How to change the Attribute Displayed Forms in a Gauge Visualization

Pedro Salazar Garza

Senior Manager, Cloud Support • MicroStrategy

The Gauge visualization does not allow users to select which attribute forms to display because it's missing the option of "Display Attribute Forms" when right-clicking on the attribute. This article will describe how to change the displayed attribute forms.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

Symptom:

In a dossier, the Gauge visualization is different from other visualizations in that it does not allow the user to select which attribute forms to display. It does not have the option of "Display Attribute Forms" when right-clicking on the attribute, as shown below:

Other visualizations, e.g. Bar Chart, users can choose which attribute forms to display using the "Display Attribute Forms" when right-clicking on the attribute, like shown below:

Steps to reproduce:

  1. In a dossier, add a Gauge visualization.
  2. Add one Metric, and add an Attribute in the "Break By" drop zone.
  3. Right-click the Attribute and notice how it doesn’t have "Display Attribute Forms" option, user cannot select one specific form to display.

Solution:

Create a Grid visualization first, add the attribute and metric. Then right-click the attribute and choose the form. Then change this Grid visualization to the Gauge visualization.
