KB486468: "Failed to fetch OpenAPI from service" error appears in the logs of Strategy Library 2021 U11

Katarzyna Olszewska

Senior Cloud Support Engineer III • MicroStrategy

This knowledge base article provides instructions on how to prevent the error related to Strategy-AI-Service from appearing in the Strategy Library logs of an environment without Strategy AI.

Symptom

Strategy AI was released starting Strategy 2021 Update 11, however it is only possible to enable it in a Strategy Cloud Environment. Environments where Strategy AI is not enabled may experience that the Strategy Library logs will grow very large very quickly. The following error appears every 35 seconds:

2024-01-30 16:21:16,650 [ForkJoinPool-1-worker-5] [ForkJoinPool-1-worker-5] ERROR c.m.r.c.s.ServiceOpenApiSourceImpl 80 - Failed to fetch OpenAPI from service: Strategy-AI-Service (…)

Solution

To prevent the error from appearing in the Strategy Library logs, follow these steps:

  1. Create a folder named "apiGateway" under "<Strategy Library Home>WEB-INF/classes".
  2. Inside the "apiGateway" folder, create a file named "aiservice.json" with the content below:
    {
     "name": "Strategy-AI-Service",
     "urls": [
       {
         "key": "services.collaboration.baseURL"
       }
     ],
     "config":{
       "tlsEnabledKey":"services.collaboration.tlsEnabled",
       "featureFlag": "features.ai-service.supported"
     },
     "openApis": [
       {
         "path": "aiservice/api-docs"
       }
     ],
     "routes": [
       {
         "predicates": [
           {
             "path": "aiservice(/([^/]+))*"
           }
         ],
         "filters": [
           {
             "name": "AiServicePreFilter"
           },
           {
             "name": "AiServicePostFilter"
           }
         ]
       }
     ]
    }

  3.  Restart the Tomcat server where Strategy Library is deployed.

Note: Removing the newly added "aiservice.json" file will trigger the error again.
