KB486723: Subscriptions that deliver a dossier that contains both a live connect data source and dynamic filter will fail in MicroStrategy 2021 Update 7 through MicroStrategy Update 10

Summary:

When a subscription delivers a dossier that contains both a live connect data source and a dynamic filter the subscription fails to send. A message similar to the following may be observed in the DSSErrors.log:
Error Message: MSIJob Execution Error: Job ID = 6588, Comp Error code = 0;    Error Code 0x800648BE: C4BA7D2E304F950D59E0BC872BA05A2A is skipped due to no data.    Stop in ‘hPreTransmissionNotificationLogError, Delivery Component of Distribution Service’
or a message similar to the following in the DSSErrors.log:
Fail to serialize the document JSON.
or the subscription may fail to send without any specific error message in the DSSErrors.log.
 

Steps to Reproduce:

1) In Strategy Web create a dossier.
2) Add a live connect data source to the dossier
3) Add a filter to the dossier and set the filter to be a dynamic selection as in the example below. In the dropdown menu select Dynamic Selection and then First N Elements

4) Create a subscription that delivers the dossier created in steps 1-3.
5) Trigger the subscription. The subscription will fail to send.
 

Cause:

This issue has been identified as a defect in Strategy 2021 Update 7 through Strategy 2021 Update 10.
 

Action:

A fix for the issue has been implemented in Strategy 2021 Update 11. Apply Update 11 to take advantage of the fix.
