KB486780: A non-Out-of-the-Box Platform Analytics report shows data for subscriptions that do not appear in either Developer or in Workstation

Cesar Mota

This article describes how to address an issue where subscription data in a non-Out-of-the-Box Platform Analytics report for a project is wrongly displayed. Subscriptions are displayed in the report even though they have been removed from the project and cannot be found in either Developer or in Workstation.

Symptom

When trying to display data of the existing subscription in a non-Out-of-the-Box Platform Analytics report, data of deleted subscriptions may be unexpectedly displayed. It is possible to confirm in Developer and Workstation that these subscriptions are truly deleted, but they are still displayed in the report.
Purging caches and re-publishing the Platform Analytics Cube do not fix the issue.
When adding the "Object Status" attribute into the report grid, its value for the affected subscriptions is "Visible", which seems to be incorrect, as these subscriptions were deleted. Because of this, this attribute cannot be used to filter out the deleted subscriptions.

Cause

The "Object Status" attribute of a subscription gives information about the subscribed object, not about the subscription object itself. Because of this, this attribute may appear as "Visible" for an already-deleted subscription, as the object (being a report, cube, document, dashboard, etc.) that was subscribed under this deleted subscription may still exist in the Metadata.

Solution

Use the Out-of-the-Box "Subscription" attribute, as it contains the "Status" attribute form, which provides the status of the subscription object. By filtering the affected Platform Analytics report based on this attribute form, it is possible to exclude from the report the data of the subscriptions not present in the Metadata. Subscriptions not present in the Metadata have a "Deleted" value in this attribute form.
