Depending on the infrastructure setup, one can follow these steps to upload images from the local machine to the MicroStrategy WebApps. This guide provides detailed instructions for using AWS S3 Browser to ensure a smooth and efficient image upload process to the Amazon S3 bucket.

Azure Blob Storage


This guide provides detailed instructions for using Microsoft Azure Storage Explorer to ensure a smooth and efficient image upload process to your Azure Blob Storage account. 
 
1: Download and Install Microsoft Azure Storage Explorer: 

  • Visit the Microsoft Azure Storage Explorer download page. 
  • Download and install the application suitable for your operating system. 

2. Connect to Azure Storage Account: 

  • Open Microsoft Azure Storage Explorer. 
  • Click on the “Connect” button or “Connect to a storage account or service” option. 

3. Obtain Connection Credentials: 
Request the necessary connection details from the Strategy support team. You will need one of the following: 
 

  1. Connection string (Key or SAS) 
  1. Shared Access Signature (SAS) URL 
  1. Account name and key 

4. Configure Storage Account: 

  • Enter the requested credentials to configure your storage account in Microsoft Azure Storage Explorer. 
  • Once configured, you will be able to access your environment’s blob storage. 
     

5. Locate the Container: 

  • Navigate to the container with the environment name you are working with. 
     

6. Find the Correct Image Folder: 
Depending on the type of web application, locate the corresponding image folder: 
 
For Web Application: images/ 
For Strategy Library: library/images/ 
For Mobile Application: mobile_images/ 
 
7. Upload the Image: 

  • Drag and drop or use the upload button to add your image file into the appropriate folder. 
     

8. Verify Image Availability: 

  • The uploaded image should become available within a few minutes, depending on the synchronization time. 
     

 

Amazon S3 Bucket


This guide provides detailed instructions for using AWS S3 Browser to ensure a smooth and efficient image upload process to your Amazon S3 bucket. 
 
 
1. Download and Install AWS S3 Browser: 

  • Visit the AWS S3 Browser website. 
  • Download and install the application suitable for your operating system. 
     

2. Connect to AWS S3 Account: 

  • Open AWS S3 Browser. 
  • Click on the “Add New Account” or “Add New Connection” button. 
     

3. Obtain Connection Credentials: 

  • Ensure you have the following AWS S3 credentials: 
  1. Access Key ID 
  1. Secret Access Key 

If you do not have these credentials, request them from Strategy Support Team. 
 
4. Configure AWS S3 Connection: 

  • Enter the Access Key ID and Secret Access Key into AWS S3 Browser. 
  • Complete the configuration to connect to your AWS S3 account. 
     

5. Locate the Bucket: 

  • In the AWS S3 Browser interface, navigate to the bucket where you need to upload images. 
     

6. Find the Correct Folder: 
Within the selected bucket, locate the folder where you want to upload the image. Depending on your use case, this might be: 
 
For Web Application: images/ 
For Strategy Library: library/images/ 
For Mobile Application: mobile_images/ 
 
7. Upload the Image: 
Use the “Upload” button or drag and drop the image file into the chosen folder within the AWS S3 Browser. 
 
8. Verify Image Availability: 
The image should be accessible in the specified folder. It may take a few moments for the upload to complete and the image to become available, depending on network conditions and file size. 
 
 

Utility Box

In case you need to upload an image from the UTB (Utility Box), follow these steps: 
 
1. Connect to the UTB Machine: 

  • Use an RDP (Remote Desktop Protocol) client to connect to the UTB machine. 

2. Download the Image to the UTB: 

  • Once logged in to the UTB, download your image file to a folder on the machine, such as \Desktop\Images\. 
     

3. Navigate to the Mount Unit: 

  • Access the mounted unit that corresponds to your required AWS S3 bucket or Blob storage. 

4. Find the Correct Folder: 
Within the selected bucket or Blob storage, locate the appropriate folder for the image. Depending on your use case, this might be: 
 
For Web Application: images/ 
For Strategy Library: library/images/ 
For Mobile Application: mobile_images/ 
5. Upload the Image: 

  • Use the “Upload” button or drag and drop the image file from the \Desktop\Images\ folder into the chosen folder within AWS S3 Browser. 
     

6. Verify Image Availability: 

  • Ensure that the image is accessible in the specified folder. Note that it may take a few moments for the upload to complete and for the image to become available, depending on network conditions and file size.
