KB486947: Japanese character in history list name disappeared in history list after user log out and log in again.

Yihuan Qian

Senior Support Engineer • MicroStrategy

This article explains why Japanese character in history list name disappeared in history list after user log out and log in again.

Symptom

When a report with Japanese character and English character in name is executed and sent to history list automatically, the history list name would contain both Japanese and English character. If customer logs out and logs in again, the Japanese character in history list name is truncated.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Restore customer's metadata and set up database based history list.
2. Send a report to history list with both English and Japanese characters in history list name, e.g., test_ テスト.
3. Log out and log in again to check the history list name. The Japanese character is truncated and the history list name would be like: test_.
The character set encoding for history list database connection is UTF-8, which does not support Japanese character.

Solution

Set Character and Encoding to Non-UTF8 for history list database connection. Save the change and restart Intelligence Server.
