KB487003: It is not possible to group the Administrator user with any other users in the “To” field in email subscriptions in MicroStrategy One

Frederick Kellerman

Cloud Support Expert I • MicroStrategy

This article discusses behavior that may be seen when attempting to Group the out of the box Administrator in the “To” field with other users in email subscriptions. Users may find that it is impossible to group the Administrator with any other users in an email subscription even if all security and personalization settings match.

Symptom

In Strategy One users may find that it is impossible to group the out of the box Administrator user with any other users in the “to” field of an email subscription. This will happen even if the “Group recipients in a single email when device and bucketing rules are same” feature flag is enabled. And it will happen even if the device, bucketing, security and personalization settings of the users to be grouped are all the same as the Administrator.

Steps to Reproduce

1. Create 2 copies of the out of the box Administrator user
2. Make sure that “Group recipients in a single email when device and bucketing rules are same” and “Bucketing” feature flags are enabled as seen in the image below

3. After making sure that all 3 users use the same security and personalization, add all 3 users to an email subscription as seen in the image below.

4. Run the subscription. Notice that in the emails generated by the subscription, the 2 copies of the Administrator are grouped together, but the out-of-the-box Administrator is not grouped, as seen in the image below

Solution

This behavior has been logged with the Strategy Engineering team, with internal reference US575532. Contact Strategy Technical Support for an update on its status.
