Strategy customers can now leverage Platform Analytics to fulfill a vast majority of the monitoring workflows previously handled by the legacy Enterprise Manager tool. Platform Analytics was introduced in Strategy 11.0, and it is now Strategy ONE’s default monitoring tool. Strategy encourages users to transition to Platform Analytics to take advantage of its improved performance, scalability, and usability.
Parity and Enhancements in Platform Analytics
All but two Enterprise Manager use cases are supported by Platform Analytics. The two Enterprise Manager use cases which are not covered in Platform Analytics are Performance Counter telemetry and Strategy iOS Mobile Client telemetry.
Data Collection:
- Like Enterprise Manager, Platform Analytics collects telemetry data. In addition, Platform Analytics captures telemetry data in real time, allowing for more immediate insights into the performance of the Strategy platform.
- Platform Analytics collects telemetry from more areas of Strategy including: Environment composition, system usage, project usage, user activity, content usage, cube usage, subscription usage, quality, licensing, and identity.
Modern Architecture:
- Platform Analytics is more stable than Enterprise Manager, thanks to a modern and scalable architecture with no data load or schedule to maintain.
- Platform Analytics has a smaller footprint on the Intelligence Server than Enterprise Manager.
- Platform Analytics can support multiple Strategy environments.
User Centric Approach:
- Platform Analytics workflows show data directly in Workstation.
- Users, who are not administrators, can see the telemetry they care about.
- Naming conventions are more user friendly.
- Platform Analytics comes with a set of out-of-the-box curated dashboards to make interacting with telemetry data easier.
