KB487097: "The object does not exist in the metadata" error appears when editing a user in MicroStrategy Workstation

Vanessa Munoz

Cloud Support Expert I • MicroStrategy

This article describes an issue that takes place in MicroStrategy Workstation, when editing a user, which is due to a metadata inconsistency.

Symptom

When editing a user in Strategy Workstation, the following error appears:

ka0PW0000004TBVYA2_0EMPW00000HAJlx.jpeg

The object does not exist in the metadata.

The DSSErrors.log file show several "object not found errors" such as:
Object with ID 'XYZ' and type 37 (Request) is not found in metadata. It may have been deleted.
Object with ID 'XYZ' and type 32 (Project) is not found in metadata. It may have been deleted.
Object with ID 'XYZ' and type 44 (Security Role) is not found in metadata. It may have been deleted.

The user can be edited from Strategy Developer.

Cause

This error occurs because some objects no longer exist but there are still references to them in the metadata. In order to track down the cause of the inconsistency, customers encountering this issue should make note of Schema-related changes, Object Migrations, or error messages prior to experiencing the problem. Change Journaling, if it has been enabled, can help in preserving this information.

Solution

Contact Strategy Technical Support in order to get some assistance to fix this inconsistency.
