KB487142: "Cannot invoke "okhttp3.Response.code()" because "<local14>" is null" returned when logging into MicroStrategy Library

Symptom

Strategy Library may return the following error during the login process:

“Cannot invoke "okhttp3.Response.code()" because "<local14>" is null.”

Cause

The error may occur if the Intelligence Server alias name cannot be resolved by the library server. To verify this, check the StrategyLibrary-<library_application_name>.log.
Alongside the error “Cannot invoke "okhttp3.Response.code()" because "<local14>" is null.”, an additional error may also appear:

No such host is known (alias of the Intelligence Server)

Solution

Edit the hosts file on the Library Server machine and add the following line, ensuring the alias name of the Intelligence Server is recognized by the library server:

<ip> <host name > <alias of the Intelligence Server recorded in the library log>

• Windows: “C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc\hosts”
• Linux: “/etc/hosts”
