This article discusses an issue where the execution of jobs from Narrowcast will cause Intelligence Server to crash. The crash occurs when Intelligence Server version is 11.4.9 or later and Narrowcast version is earlier than 11.4.9

Introduction

Users may notice that the Intelligence Server crashes when executing jobs from Narrowcast Server when Intelligence Server version is 11.4.9 or later and Narrowcast version is earlier than 11.4.9. The crash occurs when the setting to Generate PDF/Excel in Narrowcast Server machine in Information Source->Define->Advanced Properties is disabled as seen in the image below.

This will cause the formatting for the deliveries to happen on the Intelligence Server instead of Narrowcast which will cause a crash when executing a document that requires PDF/Excel export generation.

Steps

There are 2 ways to resolve the issue. Users may perform either one of the following actions to prevent the crash from occurring:

1) Update the installation of Narrowcast server to be the same version as Intelligence Server
or
2) Enable the settings for Generate PDF/Excel in Narrowcast Server machine in the Information Source as seen in the image below:
