Enabling subtotals across rows

Strategy Developer offers users the ability to enable subtotals across rows and down columns.

Follow the steps below to enable subtotals across rows:

  • Create a report with attributes and metrics.

  • An attribute is used to group the metrics (see the image above) to allow subtotals across rows.

  • Go to 'Data' > 'Subtotals'.
  • Click on the 'Advanced' button.
  • Enable the subtotaling function, in the Advanced Subtotals options window, to aggregate across the level of the attribute located above the metric. In the above example that attribute is Year. To do so, check the 'Across level' button and select the appropriate attribute (in this case it is 'Year').

  • Run the report to obtain the following result:

  • In this example, the metric 'Dollar Sales' is totaled across the rows. This total is the sum of 'Dollar Sales' for the years 1997 and 1998.
