KB5092: 'MsiSessionManager: Maximum number of Server users( x) reached.' error message appears when attempting to log into a 3-tier Project Source in MicroStrategy Desktop 8.x.

SYMPTOM:
The following error message appears when users attempt to log into a 3-tier Project Source in Strategy Developer.

'MsiSessionManager: Maximum number of Server users(x) reached.'

 
CAUSE:
The maximum number of user sessions is reached as set in the Server Configuration Editor. To enable more users to connect, increase this value in the Server Configuration Editor.
ACTION:
Increase the number of maximum number of Server users in the Server Configuration Editor by performing the following steps.

  • Highlight the Project Source and right-click.
  • Select 'Configure Strategy Intelligence Server' from the menu. The Server Configuration Editor appears.
  • Go to 'Governing' folder and select 'General' sub-folder.
  • Increase 'Maximum number of user sessions' as shown below:

  • Click 'OK'.
