KB5146: How to Delete All Report Caches using MicroStrategy Intelligence Server SDK

Community Admin

• Strategy

This article discusses how to Delete All Report Caches using MicroStrategy Intelligence Server SDK 9.x and 10.x

All report caches can be deleted using Strategy Service Development Kit (SDK) 9.0.x and 10.x. The 'DSSDatasource' interface allows access to the 'DSSServerAdmin' interface using the 'DSSDatasource.ServerAdmin' property. The 'DSSServerAdmin' interface has a member method called 'CacheAdministrator'.

This method requires the project ID as a parameter and returns an object type 'DSSCacheAdmin'. This interface does not contain any delete cache functions or properties therefore it is required to cast the returning objects into an object of type 'DSSReportCacheAdmin'.

The interface 'DSSReportCacheAdmin' has a member function called 'DeleteAllCaches', in addition to other compliant cache functions.

The product documentation on the 'DSSReportCacheAdmin' interface provides a brief explanation of what each member function can do. However, users must use a source code similar to the one below to get this object.
To access the 'DSSReportCacheAdmin' interface, 'objSession' must point to a valid, initiated session with Strategy Intelligence Server.

Dim objReportCacheAdmin As IDSSReportCacheAdmin
Set objReportCacheAdmin = objSession.ServerAdmin.CacheAdministrator(oServerAdmin.ProjectInstances(EnumDSSRefreshOption.DssServerRefreshNo).ItemByName("Project Name").ID)

objReportCacheAdmin.DeleteAllCaches

This deletes all report caches for specified project in a similar fashion as can be done in the Cache Monitor.

For more information see KB6100-72X-0316 - How to unload caches to disk in Strategy Intelligence Server SDK
