KB5716: How to modify permissions so that selected users only see the Report Wizard when creating a report in MicroStrategy Web 9.x and 10.x

 
To modify permissions when creating a report in Strategy Web 8.0.x for selected users to only see the Report Wizard and not the Report Builder, follow the steps outlined below:

• Connect to a Server Project Source and open the folder Object Templates/Reports. By default, this is a hidden folder.
  

• Right-click on the Report Builder report object and select Properties then click on the Security tab.
• Select the Add button and find the user(s) that should be denied access to this object. Click OK.
• In the Permissions window, highlight this user and select the Object box. A drop-down box appears where the respective permission for that user can be set.
• Change the Object permission to 'Denied All'. The user will no longer see the Report Builder when creating a report in Strategy Web 9.x and 10.x or Strategy Developer 9.x and 10.x.
