’Error: Unable to resolve prompt. The user does not have Browse access to this Attribute object’ error message appears when running a prompted report in MicroStrategy Developer 9.x

ka02R000000kcb5QAA_0EM440000002GDL.gif

'Error: Unable to resolve prompt. The user does not have Browse access to this Attribute object'

The Administrator user is able to run the report.

CAUSE:
This error occurs because users do not have the proper permissions to a particular attribute that is contained in the prompt.

ACTION:
To resolve this issue, the Administrator must give to users the appropriate permissions. To do this:

  1. Login to Strategy Developer (3-tier mode) as the Administrator.
  2. Go to Schema Objects > Attributes and find the attribute that is contained within this prompt.
  3. Right-click on the attribute and select Properties > Security.
  4. Add the appropriate user or group to this list by clicking on the 'Add…' button.
  5. Modify any other attributes where users need to have the correct permissions.
  6. Users are now able to run the prompted report in both Strategy Developer and Strategy Web.
