KB6331: How to create a 'last week' filter using dynamic dates in MicroStrategy Developer 9.4.x - 10.x.

Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

This technical note explains how to create a 'last week' filter using dynamic dates in MicroStrategy Developer 9.4.x - 10.x.

To calculate data for last week with respect to the current date, users can create a dynamic date using the Filter Editor in Strategy Developer 9.4.x - 10.x.
To do so, follow the steps below:

  • Choose to add an attribute qualification in the Filter Editor.
  • Choose to qualify on the ID and select the 'Between' Operator, as shown below:

  • Click on the 'Calendar' button to access the Date Editor.
  • Select the 'Dynamic date' button and 'This week'. If the week starts on Sunday, check this day and minus seven days. It will calculate the date for last Sunday, as shown below:

  • For the second date, users specify 'Saturday' and minus seven days.

  •
For European countries where the week starts on Monday, calculate the date as shown below:
    • Monday of this week minus seven days
    • Sunday of this week minus seven days.
