How to create absolute value metrics in MicroStrategy Developer
The following procedure describes how to create an absolute value metric in Strategy Desktop 8.x.
For the purpose of this document, the 'Cost' metric has been multiplied by (-1) to create a negative metric value, as shown below:
To display the absolute value of this metric, the ABS function -- found through the following path -- is used: Schema Objects > Functions and Operators > Plug in Packages > Math Functions > ABS as shown below:
With both of these metrics on a report users see the metric from Step 1 displaying negative values while the metric from Step 2 displays the absolute value as shown below:
