Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

This technical note describes a way to launch MicroStrategy Developer and log into a project using the Microsoft Windows Command prompt

In Strategy Developer 9.x/10.x, users can launch the application and log into a project by using the Microsoft Windows Command Prompt.

In the Command prompt, type in the following:
MstrDesk.exe /open ProjectSourceName\ProjectID\Login\Password.
ProjectSourceName = Name of the Project Source in Developer
Login & Password: Strategy Developer login information
Upon pressing return in the Command prompt, Strategy Developer will launch and the user will see a login window popup with the appropriate login and password filled in (as entered from the Command prompt). The user now has to click on the 'Ok' button to complete the login process.

The ProjectID can be determined:

  • By running the following script in the Command Manager:
    LIST ALL PROPERTIES FOR PROJECT "Project_Name";

    OR

  • By right-clicking on the project in Object Manager and going to 'Properties'.
