’You are attempting to log in without the proper privileges’ error message appears when duplicating a project to a different project source in MicroStrategy Developer 9.x

 
SYMPTOM:
In Strategy Developer, when users duplicate a project to a different project source, they see the following error message:

You are attempting to log in without the proper privileges. Please log in as a user member of the administrators group before proceeding.

 
CAUSE:
This issue occurs because the user specified is not a member of the destination project source Systems Administrator Group.
 
ACTION:
To resolve this issue, follow the steps outlined below:

  1. In Strategy Developer, log into the project source (which will be designated as the destination for the duplicate project) as a user with administrative privileges.
  2. In User Manager, add the user in question to the Systems Administrator Group.
