KB7704: How to display Oracle database images in MicroStrategy Web 9.x

SUMMARY:
Displaying Oracle database images is not a feature that is available out-of-the-box with Strategy Web 9.x. Even though it is possible to implement this feature, some customization is needed.
ACTION:
Strategy Web cannot directly retrieve gifs in the BLOB columns of Oracle. To do so, execute the steps below:

1. Create a new column in the database.
2. Insert the Uniform Resource Locator (URL) that will hold the src of the BLOB gif.
3. Make the appropriate java customizations for the images to be displayed in the correct places.

 
If the BLOB columns hold text, Strategy Web will be able to display the text without any customization.
