KB8510: "The number of rows in the ‘New Report’ report (including headers and data) exceeds the limit of 65536." warning message appears when users run a large report in MicroStrategy Developer 9.4.x - 10.x

This technical note documents an error that occurs when running very large report in MicroStrategy Developer.

Often times when a user is running a large report in Strategy Developer, they will see the following warning message:

“The number of rows in the ‘Name of Report’ report (including headers and data) exceeds the limit of 65536. Only the first 65536 rows will be displayed.”

This is because of an existing limitation within the Strategy Developer grid control that will only allow a user to see the first 65536 rows of report.

In Strategy Web there is no grid control. Pure Hyper Text Markup Language (HTML) is used to display the data, therefore users will be able to run the same report in Strategy Web and view all of the result rows.
