KB8556: Large report caches are not used even though they are generated in MicroStrategy 9.x and 10.x

Large report caches are not used even though they are generated in MicroStrategy 9.x and 10.x

SYMPTOM
Large reports, when executed, will generate a cache. However, the cache is not used if the report is re-executed by the same user. At the same time, a smaller report will generate a cache and re-execution of the smaller report will successfully hit the cache.

CAUSE
The size of the large report cache over the limit of the "Maximum RAM usage (MBytes)" setting located under Project Configuration > Caching > Result Caches > Storage.  This setting needs to be configured to at least the size of the largest cache file, or the largest report cache will not be used.

ACTION
Go to Project Configuration > Caching > Storage > Maximum RAM usage (MBytes) and increase the value of this setting.
