The following procedure describes a method for changing the report folder associated with the "Shared Reports" folder link in MicroStrategy Web 9.x.

The following procedure describes a method for changing the report folder associated with the "Shared Reports" folder link in Strategy Web 9.x. There are three main scenarios that this feature is needed:

  • The "Shared Reports" folder link needs to be reassigned to a subfolder of the project folder that is currently associated with the web link.
  • The project folder that is currently associated with the "Shared Reports" folder link no longer exists.
  • The "Shared Reports" folder link needs to be reassigned to a folder that is not a subfolder of the folder that is currently associated with the web link.

For the first case, the "Shared Reports" link functions and the administrator can navigate to the folder that they would like to designate as the "Shared Report" folder. This can be done using the interface in step #3 below.

For the last two cases, the "Shared Folder" link will no longer function or can not be used to navigate to the desired folder. In this case, the administrator will first need to search for the name of a report in the pertinent project folder.

  • To begin the new association, enter the name of a report into the Quick Search box at the left of the screen:

  • The report will be shown, along with the path to that report, as shown below. Click on the lowest level shown in the path (in this case, "Financial Reports").

  • From the folder in question, click on the link to the Preferences Section.

  • Under Preferences > Project Defaults > Folder Browsing, select the "Last Folder" radio button for the "Shared Reports Folder" option.

  •
Now, every time the users hit the shared reports link in Strategy Web, they will be taken to this folder that the administrator has defined.
