This article describes the existence of a user named <DELETED USER> that displays after executing a report in MicroStrategy Enterprise Manager 9.x.

SYMPTOM:
When executing a report in Strategy Enterprise Manager 9.x, a user named <DELETED USER> may display, as illustrated in the screen shot below:

CAUSE:
There are many possible reasons which could cause this issue but are all related to a situation where the em_user_id is found to be NULL in the data load transfer from the Metadata and is recorded with an ID of '-1' in the Strategy Enterprise Manager warehouse EM_USER table. When the session was migrated in the data load process, the user was not known or could not be related to a specific user ID.

Further possible reasons the <DELETED USER> will display:

  1. The user did not exist when the session was migrated. For example, an existing user executes a report which contains statistical data. The user is then deleted and a data load is executed. Even though the user ID no longer exists the data must still be transferred. In a join on user ID, there is a NULL and the user ID is set to '-1' in the EM_USER table which will consequently display as <DELETED USER>.)
  2. A given Strategy Intelligence Server project that is logging statistics is not configured in the Enterprise Manager Console.
  3. If the user logged in with Guest ID.
  4. If the user is a non-imported LDAP user.

Note:
The <DELETED USER> will be displayed for data accumulated for Guest users and non-imported Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) users and it will also contain all of the statistics for the `Guest` user.

For example, create a report with the attributes `Day`, `User`, and the metric `Number of Sessions`, the attribute element <DELETED USER> should contain accurate data for the guest user.

ACTION:
This <DELETED USER> is implemented by design in order to account for those instances listed previously when a specific user ID cannot be matched to the data.

If it is not desired to have the <DELETED USER> contribute to the data in the Strategy Enterprise Manager reports, do the following:

Create an attribute filter on 'User' and filter out the element <DELETED USER>
