KB9367: How to enable drilling on metric values through a hyperlink in MicroStrategy Web 9.4.1 and newer versions

Users have the ability to drill on metric values using a hyper link in Strategy Web version 9.4.1 and newer. To employ this functionality, users must perform the following steps:

• Create a report in Strategy Developer and name it "Parent Report".
• Create a template in Strategy Developer and name it "child template". This is the template that the metric value will later be able to drill to.
• Edit the drill map for "Parent Report" by associating the local template with "child template" and setting the priority to High, as shown below:
  

• Go to Strategy Web Preferences/Project defaults > Drill Mode and check 'Display default drilling path as a link' as illustrated below:
  

• Apply the changes and re-execute the report.

The user will now be able to drill on metric values by clicking on the hyperlink.

 
Note:If the metric value doesn't display as a hyperlink in Strategy Web, users should check the drill path priority in the drill map (Step 3) and ensure that it is set to "High".
