KB9622: How to determine what systems are currently registered on the local machine in MicroStrategy Narrowcast Server

Community Admin

• Strategy

To determine what Strategy Narrowcast Server systems are currently registered on the local machine without opening the Narrowcast Administrator, perform the following steps:

  • Open the registry editor by entering 'regedit' from the 'Run' command. f
  • Navigate to the following registry key:
ka04W000000Ogw9QAC_0EM440000002Brw.jpeg
  •
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MicroStrategy\Broadcast Server\Repository
  • If there are systems currently registered on the machine, subfolders will appear within this key, as illustrated below:

ka04W000000Ogw9QAC_0EM440000002Brv.jpeg
  •
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MicroStrategy\Broadcast Server\Repository\2
  • Each subfolder contains the information for connecting to a specific system, which has been registered through the Narrowcast Administrator.

The individual keys and their values are:

    • Default - No value
    • Connection - The connection information to the object repository, such as connection timeout, prefix, connection type (ODBC), DSN string (DSN name, user ID, password).
    • SelectedNode - A unique ID showing the currently selected object in the Narrowcast Administrator console. This value will not be present if the system has been registered, but no connection has been established with the system through the Strategy Narrowcast Server Administrator. When exiting a system that was previously connected to, this value will represent the last object selected before exiting.
    • System - The system name
    • SystemID - The Unique ID for the system

WARNING:
Modifying registry values incorrectly may cause serious, system-wide problems that may require the re-installation of Microsoft Windows NT. Any edit of the registry is done at the user's own risk. Since these are user-initiated changes, they are not covered by any Strategy warranty. If using Microsoft Windows NT, the user should backup the registry and/or update an Emergency Repair Disk (ERD) prior to alterations.
