KB9962: A change of font is not applied to the data in a grid report in MicroStrategy Developer 9.x-10.x

Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

Users notice that even though they change the font of the attribute data, the changes are not applied to the data in the grid.

SYMPTOM:
Users notice that even though they change the font of the attribute data, the changes are not applied to the data in the grid. The following steps reproduce this issue using the Strategy Tutorial project:

  • Create a report with attributes 'Category' and 'Subcategory' and the metric 'Revenue', as shown below:

  • Right-click on an attribute and click 'Formatting'. Change the font of the 'Category' attribute to "Times New Roman":

  • Change the font of the 'Subcategory' attribute to "Arial":

  • Notice that the font of the attribute values has not changed:

CAUSE:
This issue occurs because the option "Override the default grid character set" is checked in Strategy Developer Preferences.

ACTION:
To resolve this issue, uncheck the "Override the default grid character set" option in the Developer Preferences to reflect the newly selected font for attribute values. To achieve this, perform the following steps:

  • Go to Tools > Developer Preference > International > Grid Font.
  • Uncheck the option "Overwrite the default grid character set", as shown below:

  • Reconnect to the project source and project.

The grid will now display the correct fonts:
