KB440528: Left border of the grid is missing in PDF when exporting a Dossier with grid visualization via Export to PDF option in MicroStrategy Library 10.10

Diqing Shen

Senior Manager, Cloud Support • MicroStrategy

This KB article discusses an expected behaviour that can be seen when exporting Dossiers containing grids to PDF. A workaround is available.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.
SYMPTOM:
In Strategy Library 10.10, export a Dossier with grid visualization via Export to PDF option, the Left border in grid is missing in PDF file exported, as shown below:

CAUSE:
This is an expected behaviour as, by design, all the cells in the grid have the right border but not a left border.
When the Grid is in the Dossier canvas, one cannot see this issue because the fill color of the canvas itself acts as a delimiter for the visualization (i.e. as a border on the left). However when the Grid visualization is exported alone to a PDF page, this canvas fill color is not there.
ACTION:
This issue was reviewed by our Technology team for feasibility and will not be scoped for a code change in any upcoming Strategy release.
Users who wish to request a code change should leverage the Ideas Exchange.
WORKAROUND:
Enable the Outer border for the Container via grid properties panel in Dossier as shown below:
