KB439190: Level metric attribute filtering set to ignore will apply report filters when a security filter is present on that hierarchy in MicroStrategy 10.x

SUMMARY
In Strategy 10.x, if a security filter is present on an attribute then any level metrics defined on related attributes with filtering set to ignore will behave as though the filtering was set to standard. The expected behavior is to observe and include the security filter, however level metric filtering of ignore should disregard associated report filters.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE

  • In Strategy Tutorial, construct a level metric with a definition like Function(Fact) {~+, [Attribute]%} which includes the report level and an attribute with filtering set to ignore.

  • Create or include a user defined under a security filter on the same attribute or a different attribute in the same hierarchy.

  • Create a new report that includes this metric and a second metric at a different level.

  • Run the new report under the Administrator user, so that the security filter is not applied. Note the first pass is the calculation of our level metric and ignores the report filter.

  • Log out and then run the report again as user included in the security filter. Note the first pass includes the Call Center filter defined in the report, in addition to the security filter.

CAUSE
Currently this issue is still under review by MicoStrategy for a potential code fix on an upcoming Strategy release
