KB486241: Library Mobile in Android behaves slower than the Library Mobile running on Apple IOS devices

Gustavo Sulbaran

Product Specialist • MicroStrategy

This article indicates the situation in which the user is consuming Library in an Android device and behaves slowly and when compared with its alternative IOS it goes in an expected velocity.

ISSUE:
Actions that the user make inside the app have a response time slower than its IOS counterpart.
CAUSE:
In general, IOS is faster because it uses a native code renderer which is not the case for its Android counterpart which relies in a Library for "Web Visualization Renderer" which is much slower than native.
Added to this, most often the Androids come set with mid-range specifications, which is very different from iOS which mostly use powerful flagship SoCs.
ACTION:
The cause mentioned before does not mean this could have originated from some other issue but is important to rule out hardware limitations.
If you observe a very extreme difference do please evaluate the device specifications and (if available) compare it with an IOS.
Afterwards please contact Strategy Technical Support and provide the device details to investigate further.
NOTE:
Comparative videos would be very appreciated to let the contact have an understanding on what is considered slow for the end user and if the behavior seen matches the specifications shared.
