Summary:
The Strategy PDF Exporter Service is missing from the list of services, and does not appear when attempting to do a repair installation of Strategy.
Symptom:
After completing an installation or upgrade, you may notice that the PDFExporter Service is not present on the machine. It does not appear in the list of services, and attempting to do a repair installation does not show the option to install the service. You will also notice no registry key for the PDFExporter service is present.
Action/Workaround:
While this can be resolved with a full uninstallation and reinstallation of Strategy, you may also install the PDFExporter Service separately to remedy the situation. Running the following command (or modifying the file paths depending on your installation) will install the PDFExporter Service separately:
“C:\Program Files (x86)\MicroStrategy\Intelligence Server\PDFExportService\MSTRPDFExportService.exe” install MSTR_PDFExport --Config “C:\Program Files (x86)\MicroStrategy\Intelligence Server\PDFExportService\MSTRPDFExportService_config.txt”
