KB484422: MicroStrategy iOS Library Mobile app cannot display the font style which is used in a dossier HTML container

Shuang Qi

Senior Cloud Support Engineer II • Strategy

This article explains why the font in a dossier HTML container is displayed inconsistently between a web view and the iOS Library Mobile app. This article also provides a solution to avoid this behavior.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

Description

In a dossier HTML container, you can put an HTML script under HTML Text to display a customized page in a dossier. Sometimes, from the Strategy iOS Library Mobile app, you may notice that the font in the HTML container cannot display its style the same as a web browser.

For example, when using the Open Sans font in the HTML container, you see the following web view.

The below screenshot is a view from the iOS Library Mobile app.

Why is this happening?

You are experiencing this behavior because the “Open Sans” font is not supported on iOS, and for the HTML container, the fallback font logic is changed in WKWebView, which is provided by Apple.

Solution

It is highly suggested that you use iOS supported fonts, found here, to achieve the same appearance as designed.
