Strategy encourages all customers importing data from S3 to upgrade to M2021 so they can leverage the new scalable cloud S3 gateway. The cloud S3 connector is built in-house, is much more performant and solved many of the limitations faced by its predecessor. It also supports connectivity to Parquet, Avro, JSON and ORC formats on top of the traditional CSV support. To learn more about our new Amazon S3 connector, please refer to How to Connect to Amazon S3 .
After June 30th, 2021, the extended support for the legacy S3 connector will end and customers using Strategy 2019 and 2020 will not be able to connect to S3. Customers leveraging the S3 connector with M2019 and M2020, before they upgrade to M2021, can continue to import the data by staging it in shared file systems.
Below are some possible ways to leverage files in Amazon S3 with Strategy using the M2019 and M2020 release:
To achieve achieve a network file system with Amazon S3 buckets, see Creating an NFS file share.
Strategy URL import can be used to access data from a network file system. For more information, see Importing Data from a URL.
Once all the data has been transferred to a shared file system, you can use MicroStrategy URL import.
