KB485880: Not able to search the object if the length of the single word in the keyword is more than 25 characters with Contains/Begins With modes.

Ling Jing

Product Owner, Principal • MicroStrategy

This article outlines why it's not possible to search the object if the length of the single word in the keyword is more than 25 characters with Contains/BeginsWith modes.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.

Symptom

Here is the test result for the case that the search word length is larger than 25.
There is a dossier with the name 'ABCDEFGHIJKLMNOPQRSTUVWXYZ' (from letter A to Z, the length is 26) in the metadata.

Cause

Currently, we have a hardcoded length limitation when indexing the metadata object name, if the length for a single word is more than 25 characters, we will truncate it to 25.

Action

Search with a word that is less than 25 characters.
