Fernando Iwamoto

Senior Cloud Support Engineer III • MicroStrategy

This document shows an issue when upgrading to MicroStrategy 10.11 where not is possible to move on due the following error "Not enough privileges to create the metadata tables: Failed to execute: 'CREATE TABLE TMP_0319(X INTEGER)'"

SYMPTOM:
After installing the Strategy 10.11, users cannot continue the Metadata upgrade process due the following error "Not enough privileges to create the metadata tables: Failed to execute: 'CREATE TABLE TMP_0319(X INTEGER)'"

Not enough privileges to create the metadata tables: Failed to execute: 'CREATE TABLE TMP_0319(X INTEGER)'

For this specific case the user was using SQL Server 2012 and the privileges of the user in database were double checked. In the DB Query tool this user could create and drop tables as well.
The user also could run the reports with no errors, but could not perform the upgrade on Metadata.
CAUSE:
The possible cause in this case, when installing the Strategy 10.11 the user created the DNS for Metadata using a local driver for SQL Server 2012.
ACTION:
Create a new DSN through the Connectivity Wizard in order to use the appropriate fro SQL Server 2012
