KB486286: "Object with ID'%1' and type %2 (%3) is not found in metadata. It may have been deleted" error appears when running a report or a dossier against the database after duplicating a project, in MicroStrategy 2021

Vanessa Munoz

Cloud Support Expert I • MicroStrategy

This article describes an issue that occurs when running a report in a project created through a project duplication.

Starting with the release of Strategy ONE (March 2024), dossiers are also known as dashboards.
SYMPTOM:
After a successful project duplication when using Duplication Wizard from Strategy Developer GUI, when trying to execute a report against a database that has Identity and Access Management object configured for it, the following error appears:

ka0PW0000001Jm5YAE_0EMPW0000033B6r.png

Object with ID'%1' and type %2 (%3) is not found in metadata. It may have been deleted

CAUSE:
The root cause of this issue is that the Developer project duplication tool does not support migrating IAM objects, therefore post-duplication, the error message can be seen, as the object has never been duplicated for the new project.
ACTION:
Currently two workarounds exist for this issue:
Workaround 1:
Recreate the IAM object in the destination project and then recreate the database connection for it.
Workaround 2:
Use the Object Migration function in Workstation to migrate the IAM object from the source project to the destination project.
