"Object with ID xxxxx and type 32 (Project) is not found in the metadata. It may have been deleted" error appears when creating a new project in MicroStrategy for DB2 metadata.

Qinghai Hu

Software Engineer, Principal • MicroStrategy

This article explain how to resolve the error "Object with ID xxxxx and type 32 (Project) is not found in the metadata. It may have been deleted" that appears when creating a new project in Developer.

Symptom

Creating a new project in Developer causes the following error message to appear:

Object with ID ‘XXXXX’ and type 32 (Project) is not found in metadata. It may have been deleted.

In the DSSErrors.log, the follow error displays:

OdbcParameterizedQuery::ExecQuery failed. Disconnected.
Error type: Odbc error. Odbc operation attempted: SQLExecute. [08S01:0: on SQLHANDLE] [Strategy][ODBC DB2 Wire Protocol driver]Socket closed. For more information, please consult DB2 document for error code SQL00. Connection String: DSN=METAP;UID=dwhodbc;IPADDRESS=10.132.57.4;TCPPORT=3706;DATABASE=METAP;. SQL Statement: INSERT INTO DSSMDOBJDEF2 VALUES (?, ?, ?, ?).

Cause

The column definition in the table

DSSMDOBJDEF2
in the metadata is declared as VARCHAR(4000) NOT NULL. When the server inserts a value with 4,000 characters, it fails.
The root cause is DB2 environment related since most of the DB2 metadata does not encounter this issue.

Solution

To avoid this error, alter the column definition's length to be greater than 4,000. To alter the length, use:

ALTER TABLE DSSMDOBJDEF2 ALTER COLUMN DEFINITION SET DATA TYPE VARCHAR (8000);
