Other Big Data

Stefan Zepeda

Salesforce Solutions Architect • Strategy

This area explains how other big data sources can be leveraged in MicroStrategy.

Using a variety of native connectors, tap into nearly any type of data from spreadsheets to Salesforce reports to big data sources like Hadoop. Easily blend data from multiple sources for fast, easy analysis. Quickly define relationships across tables or sources with simple drag-and-drop controls.

SQL on Hadoop continues to be the most popular way for organizations to run queries on data stored in HDFS. With a wide range of out-of-the-box connectors, Strategy enables organizations to leverage their existing investments in big data technology and directly connect to Hadoop distributors like Cloudera, Hortonworks, MapR, IBM BigInsights, and Pivotal. Organizations can leverage all SQL on Hadoop technologies, including Cloudera Impala, MapR Drill, Apache Spark, Pivotal HAWQ, and Facebook Presto to support interactive queries.
CONNECT TO NoSQL DATABASES
Organizations often use NoSQL databases to store semi-structured data that is well suited for real-time analysis, transactional analysis, and more. Strategy provides direct connectivity to NoSQL databases like MongoDB and Cassandra.
NATIVELY CONNECT TO HDFS
The Strategy Hadoop Gateway makes it easy for organizations to natively tap into their Hadoop assets. For ad-hoc self-service scenarios, where organizations are looking to generate schema on read, our native Hadoop connector provides faster parallel data transfer from Hadoop.
