KB439363: Purge statistics action in Scheduled Administration Tasks generates erroneous SQL statement in MicroStrategy Developer 10.4 HF 2

Piotr Janaszek

Software Engineer • MicroStrategy

In MicroStrategy Developer 10.4.2 the scheduled purge statistics task does not delete from IS_SESSION_STATS statistics table.

SUMMARY
In Strategy Developer 10.4.2 the scheduled purge statistics task does not delete from IS_SESSION_STATS statistics table.
STEPS TO REPRODUCE

  1. Create statistics database in Oracle
  2. Enable statistics logging on project level
  3. Run a sample document
  4. Run DB Query Tool
  5. Connect to your Statistics Database
  6. Check if any statistics are logged in IS_SESSION_STATS table
  7. Go to Developer
  8. Go to Administration menu
  9. Open Scheduling
  10. Select Schedule Administration Tasks
  11. Select project name in available projects
  12. Select Purge Statistics action
  13. Trigger the event associated with your schedule
  14. Run DB Query Tool again
  15. Check if the statistics were purged
  16. Check DSSErrors.log.

ERROR MESSAGE
Execute Query failed. Error type: Odbc error. Odbc operation attempted: SQLExecDirect. [Strategy][ODBC Oracle Wire Protocol driver][Oracle] ORA-00904: "PROJECTID": invalid identifier. SQL Statement: Delete from IS_SESSION_STATS where (PROJECTID ='xxx' OR PROJECTID IS NULL) AND (RECORDTIME BETWEEN To_Date('xx-xx-xxxx xx:xx:xx', 'DD-MM-YYYY HH24:MI:SS') AND To_Date('xx-xx-xxxx xx:xx:xx', 'DD-MM-YYYY HH24:MI:SS')).
CAUSE
This is a known issue with Strategy 10.4. Purge statistics option is generating erroneous SQL referring to PROJECTID column. There is no such column in IS_SESSION_STATS table:
